Here is a very rare example of a Non-conforming Bulova watch. The 10AE movement has been serviced and dates from 1937 and made in the USA. It has 17 jewels and is adjusted. It has a new crystal installed.
The inner case was made by Weppler in Germany, the outter case is a steel case covered in black leather. The Dial states Bulova but is not from any known Bulova production models. This piece was probably made for a customer or possibly even by a German watch shop as a limited run (number of pieces) and sold (marketed) to ladies whom did not want a watch on the wrist or carry a bulky pocket watch. In either case this is a rare piece as it stands.
The actual movement by Bulova from 1937 is not uncommon as there are plenty of 10AE movements and parts availble here in the USA, however the German made modifications coupled with the American movement just before WWII kicked off surely places this piece in the very rare category.
